OLD BUSINESS:
SADDLE RAFFLE Joe cleared up any confusion regarding the saddle raffle. The saddle is here and 500 tickets have been printed. Joe has researched the laws of Washington and Idaho and feels that since MSQHA runs the banking through Idaho we shall use Idaho rules for running a raffle as our guidelines. Tickets will be $5.00 each or 5 for $20.00. Approximately 30 tickets have been sold previously for the agreed upon 2016 rate of $7.50. Tracy Bauman has the records and those ticket buyers will be credited back to equal the new price to make it equitable. Drawing for the saddle will be at the Bronze Classic Show the end of July 2017.
NEW BUSINESS:
-
Open All Breed Walk Trot year end awards. Danette Merritt moved to discontinue only the Adult All Breed Open Walk Trot Trail year end award. Darlene Chase seconded. Youth Open All Breed year end awards will remain the same.
-
AQHA Walk Trot. Since has approved all Level 1 Walk Trot classes for points, Mountain States will offer year end awards in those classes. President Joe Smith called for a voice and majority voted in favor of offering year buckles in all Walk Trot classes.
-
Open Handlers. It was proposed that all handlers and showman need to be Mountain States members in order for points to count for year end awards. Dannette moved that membership be required. Tracy seconded. President Joe Smith called for a voice and majority voted in favor.
-
Point requirements for year end award changes. Tracy moved that the requirement be changed to one (1) more judge than the largest circuit and that the 10 point rule be dropped. Jeanne Nicholson seconded. President Joe Smith called for a voice and majority voted in favor.
-
Halter Grand & Reserve. Danette moved that only class points will count for year end awards. Tracy seconded. President Joe Smith called for a voice and majority voted in favor.
-
Showdown. In the past Darlene has prepared a list of area and regional AHA shows and events and mailed it out to Mountain States members for $300.00. Kelly Chvatal moved that Mtn. States reimburse Darlene again for this service. Darla Fox seconded the motion. President Joe Smith called for a voice and majority voted in favor.
-
Class Sponsors. As a way to pay for the additional classes that AQHA has approved and Mountain States will not be recognizing for year end awards discussion ensued in allowing Class sponsorships. Todd made the motion that we create a form for class sponsorships to be included with the Showdown mailing. Kelly 2nd the motion. President Joe Smith called for a voice and majority voted in favor. Chris and Colleen Riedle (who were not in attendance) agreed to sponsor an all-around saddle for 2019. Joe reminded members that year end awards cost Mt. States approximately $200.00 per class. Donations in any amount are greatly appreciated.
Prior to closing Joe discussed problems with affiliates in both Washington and Idaho. Is was again mentioned that for Idaho the biggest problem seems to be that Show & Contest has no vote. Joe strongly encourage everyone to join, nonetheless. Sighting the best way to seek change is to become involved.
Darlene moved to adjourn. Tracy seconded. Motion carried.
